A public speaking is different with conversation because public speaking warrants a more precise planning to deliver messages in an effective and timely manner. The capability is urgently required for lecturers and education staffs since many of their activities deal with speaking in front of public. Such expertise can be achieved with a systematic training.
As above, on November 14 – 16, 2022 Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Diponegoro (FEB Undip) and Indonesian Professional Speakers Association (IPSA) conducted a joint event on Public Speaking training and certification at the Main Conference Room, Master of Management (MM) Program FEB Undip. The activity aims to improve the effective public speaking skill of FEB Undip’s lecturers and education staffs. The opt of IPSA is deemed accurate since IPSA is a remarkable professional organization in Indonesia for either professional speakers or public speakers across Indonesia.
Six lecturers and one education staff joined the event. The lecturers are Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. (Dean of FEB UNDIP), Mirwan Surya Perdhana, S.E., M.M., Ph.D (Head of MM), I Made Sukresna, S.E., M.Si, Ph.D (Deputy Head of MM), Dr. Andriyani, S.E., M.M., Dr. Eisha Lataruva, S.E., M.M., and Dr. Ismi Darmastuti, S.E., M.Si. Whilst the education staff is Retno Anggorowati, S.A.P. All participants eventually graduated and successfully received a competency certificate as a public speaker (Certified Public Speaker or CPS) and this certificate is valid for 4 years.
At the end of the event, Dean of FEB Undip expects more lecturers and education staffs of FEB Undip participate in this certification event in the near future. Those who had been granted should become trainers for next batches and actively involve as public speakers everywhere, and hold fast the code of ethics of a certified public speaker.
