World-class expert on Servant Leadership, Prof. Sen Sendjaya from Swinburne University give emphasis on the importance of coursework and training for leadership development. A leader needs to understand what a good leadership is, and what the followers expect from them. He also explained that leadership development is best start from early age, and parents’ behavior would also strongly influence the children’s character and behavior.
Dr. Mirwan Perdhana provides insight on how the cultural context will influence the leadership and management style, especially in a culturally-diverse nation such as Indonesia. Manager needs to consider the cultural context, especially in communication and performance appraisal, and willing to take culture into account in their managerial practice.
